Formula one also known as F1 is the largest and most popular automotive racing series for single-seat open-wheel formula cars. This spectacular event is organized by Federation Internationale de l’Automobile a french based international association headquartered in Paris, France which came into existence in 1904, there are many other auto racing events arranged by the association, but formula one is the most significant among them.
History
Formula one has its roots back in the 1920s, the series commenced with the European championship of the Grand Prix in the 1930s and 1940s. They were initially known as “The World Drivers Championship”.
Formula one name came into existence in 1946 when Federation Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA) introduced some new rules and regulations regarding the race which they called “Formula”, and the number “One” was added to the name to portray the superiority of the series over other races. The inaugural Formula One Championship took place in 1950.
Formula One Race Format
Formula one races are concluded annually and contain several races in a season called Grand Prix. all the Grand Prix races over the year combined are referred to as “The formula One World Championship” In the Formula one race total of 10 teams participate with 2 cars.

The number of Grand Prix has varied over the years, beginning with 7 in 1950, and this number continued to rise to 23 races in the 2022 World Championship.
Formula One Cars and Tracks
Formula one cars are one of the fastest purpose-built cars raced on specially built tracks called Circuits. These cars are made from carbon fiber a very lightweight material and are equipped with 1.6-liter turbocharged V6 engines.
A formula one car can go from 0 to 100mph (160kmph) in whooping 4.6 seconds and has the ability to reach the top speed of 350kmph.

Hold your breaths, FIA just announced the calendar for the 2023 Formula One World Championship which will kick off on 05 March 2023 and come to an end on 26 November 2023 with a record number of 24 races exceeding the previous 23 races held in the 2022 championship.
